The market which was Nigeria's second largest market after Idumota Market is known for its vast size and sales of commodities sold at relatively cheap prices. ==Basic structure and criticism== Oshodi market was a hoven for pick-pockets, area boys and perpetual traffic gridlock due to illegal structures and squatters scattered around the axis.〔 On 2 January 2014, Lagos State Ministry of Environment demolished all the kiosks and stalls "as part of measures to tackle traffic congestion in the state particularly at Oshodi".
